Baptism/Christenings

We welcome all enquiries relating to Baptism. Please call or email Rev. Carolyn Couzens to discuss possibilities. Contact form / 01258 858353

Infant Baptisms

If you are considering bringing your child up in the Christian faith, you may wish to have your child baptised (also referred to as ‘Christened’). Baptism marks the start of a journey of faith, which involves turning towards Christ and becoming a member of the local and worldwide Christian family. Baptisms usually take place during a Sunday morning service.

Adult Baptism

This normally takes place in a Confirmation service. Please do get in touch if you are interested to discuss the possibility.

Thanksgiving for the birth of a child

We also offer Thanksgiving services. This is where the child is officially ‘named’ and you seek God’s blessing on him/her. This is sometimes referred to as a ‘Dedication’ or a ‘Blessing’. It is especially for those who are not yet ready to make the undertakings of faith required for a Baptism or for those who are Christians but feel that the child should decide for himself when to be baptised.

Please note that there is no fee payable for a baptism or a thanksgiving service. You may wish to make a voluntary donation towards the mission of the church, although there is no obligation to do so.

Weddings

Marriage is a great adventure and what better place to have your wedding than in one of our churches where people have been coming for centuries to ask for God’s blessing on their new life together?

Can we get married in Church?

Since the marriage of two persons is a legal covenant there are some things in law that cannot be changed. However, there are many legal avenues that make it easier than ever before to marry in the church of your choice.
Do get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss options and the possible routes for getting married here.

Funerals

The ministers in the benefice are happy to take funerals in both our churches and in local crematoria. If you would like us to be involved, we feel privileged to do so and would work with each family to create a personal and fitting service at what can be a difficult time. Please feel free to get in touch.
